Box Tops update:

We will receive in the next 2 weeks a check from Box Tops for $570.80.
The next deadline is Feb.27th to get a check this year in April. We are only about half way to our goal. Last year we got more than $1000.00.We need to rummage up as many box tops as we can. It is free money. If anyone would like to help me that would be great. The biggest help is too send in box tops neatly cut and to not be expired or have the date cut off.

My name is Tina Fitzgerald. I taught 6th grade at Rivergold last year, and am teaching the Eco-Activism class this quarter. We will be kicking off an e-waste recycling fundraiser the last week of October and the first week of November. I need help with collecting items that will be dropped off at the school during student drop off. Items that can be dropped off for recycling are items like microwave ovens, old lamps, t.v.’s, hand held devices, etc.–anything with a cord or battery. Large items such as washers and dryers will be picked up from people’s homes by Yosemite Recycling. Yosemite Recycling is donating a good percentage of its profits to my class to fund field trips and greening needs for Rivergold School. Let me know if you can help. Thank you, –Ms. T.

I would like to get box tops going strong. Everyone pass along to family they can register on the site and shop on line at the boxtop site and the school benefits that way. There is also a book buying program online through box tops. I also emailed a few of the teachers and some do not know about the blog. Thanks for the box top and support. Watch the stores now there are tons of packages with box tops.

Have we considered asking the faculty and staff to donate services for the silent auction? For instance, the primary grade teachers could offer five chances to win cookies, milk and a bedtime story. Little or no expense to the teacher but huge reward for the school.

My former school held a silent auction in conjunction with its annual fund-raising carnival and the teachers’ auctioned items earned nearly $5000. I have the last auction handbook with tons of ideas for the teachers and staff.

Other ideas: principal for the day, office helper for a day, lunch with principal/teacher, hike Lewis Creek, mountain biking, pizza party, etc…
